Kinallen
Friday 30th May saw the annual band parade for Kinallen in the County Down town of Dromore. Our own band has been supporting Kinallen for quite a few years now, and vice-versa and its one of the many parades that I look forward to attending throughout the parade calendar.
Kinallen are classified in the Small Blood and thunder category and play a wide range of traditional orange tunes. They attend parades throughout the country, and were rewarded with a good selection of bands varying from Accordion to Melody and Blood and Thunder. A big crowd of spectators turned out in full force to show their support for the host band and greeted each and every band with a good round of applause which they all deserved.
Saw a few bands as we waited before we marched off, with the new Moneyslane band going well, 1st time I have saw them out, but another good wee band. Saw more bands after we finished, Pride of the Hill, East Belfast Protestant Boys, Downshire, Clogher Protestant Boys and Kilcluney to name a few, all of which were playing to a very high standard, with a hard job instore for the judges as they were all so close.
Our own band paraded tonight with 9 girls in the Colour Party, 9 in the Drum Corps, 2 Bass Drummers, JT on the cymbals, Craig on the mace and around 30 fluters.
Another top-notch performance put in again by the young band, especially the front two rows who are improving steadily. Hub of the North, Yee-Haa, Senior Service and Apprentice Boys along with the new drum link Scots Quarter all going well whilst entertaining the crowds.
